Barry Smith - Testimony and Bio

Barry Smith serves as the Metanoia Prison Ministries’ Regional Director for the Tennessee Valley Presbytery Region and a Regional Coordinator and Professor for MINTS International Seminary’s Seminary-in-Prison. A native of Annapolis, Maryland, Barry received a BA in Theology from Somerset University, an MA in Religion from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and an MA in Theological Studies from MINTS International Seminary.   

Barry came to Metanoia after leading prison ministry development for MINTS Seminary-in-Prison. He also taught Bible at Annapolis Area Christian School, ministered to Youth and Families at Reformed Presbyterian Church of Ephrata, PA, directed Student Ministries for Kendall Presbyterian Church in Miami, and was an Associate Pastor for Severna Park Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Maryland. 

 Barry represents Metanoia in churches throughout the Tennessee Valley area, recruits, trains, and encourages mentors for incarcerated believers at Walker State Prison and Bledsoe County Correctional Complex, writes devotionals and curricula, coordinates instructors and teaches classes for the Seminary-in-Prison at Walker State Prison and Rutledge State Prison. 

Barry and his wife, Gail, have eight children and eight grandchildren. They are members of North Shore Fellowship in Chattanooga where Barry also serves as a Ruling Elder.
